In celebration of International Day for Women in Maritime, Fleet Management is proud to share the stories of women whose determination and drive are helping to shape a more diverse and inclusive industry. This year’s theme, “An Ocean of Opportunities for Women”, highlights the growing possibilities for women across all areas of maritime, both at sea and ashore.

Fleet Management Fourth Engineer, Kritika Sinha, speaks about what inspired her to choose this path, what she values most about life on board, and the message she wants to pass on to other young women.
Kritika’s decision to pursue a career at sea came from her passion for travel and problem-solving. The maritime world stood out to her as a field that blends engineering with adventure, discipline and real-world responsibility.
“I considered a career at sea because of my interest in travel and unique challenges. The maritime industry stood out to me because it combines engineering with adventure, discipline and real-world responsibility.”
For Kritika, life on board is where challenge meets purpose.
“My favourite thing about working at sea is the unique combination of technical challenge and adventure. As a marine engineer, every day brings new problems to solve, whether it is maintaining critical systems or responding to unexpected issues. I enjoy the responsibility and hands-on work, but I also appreciate the sense of purpose that comes with keeping the ship running smoothly.”
To young women exploring careers in the maritime industry, Kritika offers practical advice and encouragement.
“Confidence and professionalism will help you command respect, do not let stereotypes define your experience. Seek hands-on training, internships or cadetships with companies that support diversity and inclusion.”
Fleet Management is proud to support engineers like Kritika as they build rewarding careers at sea. We remain committed to shaping a maritime industry where women are equipped, empowered and inspired to thrive.
