This year's Day of the Seafarer theme, "Carrying global trade. Carrying the risks.", recognised the people whose work keeps global trade moving and delivers the essential goods we depend on every day. To mark the occasion, we invited our seafarers to share, through their own words and images, what the profession means to them.
More than 100 entries were submitted to a poster competition open to our seafarers onboard and onshore, as well as trainees at the International Maritime Institute. Entries from India, the Philippines and China showcased the talent and passion that exists across our maritime community.
Each poster highlighted the vital role seafarers play in keeping trade flowing, connecting economies and ensuring essential goods reach businesses and communities around the world. Together, they reflected the realities of life at sea and the pride our people take in their profession.
We congratulate our five winners:
- Harooon Rashid Mootta Paramban, Cadet
- Ajay Mepparambath, Second Officer
- Justin Cruz Balibat, Second Officer
- Kurveshkumar Hasmukhram Tandel, Second Engineer
- Abhin Sahu, IMI Cadet
“We extend our sincere thanks to every member of our seafaring community who participated,” said Capt. Somasundar Nair, Executive Director, Fleet Personnel Department. “Every safe voyage, successful delivery and satisfied customer begins with the people onboard our vessels.
