Visiting Fleet Management for Day of the Seafarer, Irfan Pathan shared why seafaring and cricket have more in common than many realise, paying tribute to the people who keep global trade moving.

Former Indian cricketer Irfan Pathan joined seafarers, shore teams and cadets to mark Day of the Seafarer. Throughout the visit, his message centred on the value of seafarers and the role they play in everyday life. In every interaction, he praised seafarers for the responsibility they carry and the standards they uphold in demanding conditions. He spoke about the pride he saw in the profession, and the discipline, teamwork and consistency needed to perform well at sea. His message was simple and clear: Seafarers do essential work, often behind the scenes, and that work deserves recognition.
“Being a seafarer is not just about the job. It is about responsibility, teamwork, and performing under pressure every single day,” he said. “Most of what we use every day is transported by sea, and that only happens because of seafarers.”
During the visit, Irfan Pathan launched Pulse, our dedicated app for seafarers, at our Andheri office. He introduced the app as a platform designed to support seafarers in their day-to-day work and engagement. He also formally unveiled Care 360, a holistic wellbeing and welfare resource developed by Fleet Care, Fleet Personnel Department (FPD) and Quality catering Department (QCD), which brings together practical guidance and support for seafarer wellbeing.
He also met with Fleet and The International Maritime Institute (IMI) cadets, for a focused discussion on growth, character and leadership. The session gave cadets the chance to hear directly and learn about pressure, setbacks and success at the highest level.
His visit brought the focus back to the people behind safe and reliable operations at sea. Through his message and interactions, Irfan Pathan recognised seafarers not only for the work they do, but for the resilience, professionalism and commitment that define the profession.
