The International Maritime Institute (IMI) proudly celebrates the graduation ceremony of the Class of June 2025. The event marks a significant milestone for the 196 cadets who have successfully completed the rigorous academic and practical training of the one-year Diploma in Nautical Science (DNS) course and the four-year B. Tech Marine Engineering degree course.

153 cadets graduated in the 41st Batch of the one-year DNS course, and 43 cadets graduated in the 17th Batch of the B. Tech Marine Engineering course. The cohort includes nine trail-blazing women cadets.

In March 2025, IMI proudly joined The Caravel Group, a strategic move that enhances the Institute’s ability to offer world-class training and career opportunities for their cadets.

Chairman of Fleet Management Limited and The Caravel Group, Dr. Harry Banga extended his heartfelt congratulations to the graduating cadets and their families.

“Today marks not just the end of your training, but the beginning of a lifelong voyage of learning and leadership,” said Dr. Banga. “The world needs maritime professionals who are not only technically proficient, but also compassionate, ethical, and forward-thinking. Remember that your strength lies not only in your skills, but in your character. I wish you fair winds and following seas as you embark on your next adventure.”

In keeping with tradition, the event will feature a ceremonial lamp lighting, symbolising the enlightenment and journey ahead for the graduating cadets, and a tree planting ceremony representing IMI’s commitment to sustainability and future generations. Special awards recognise outstanding academic accomplishments, while displays of music, dance, yoga, and martial arts will be performed for proud families, faculty, industry partners and special guests.

Strengthening Futures: Unlocking Lifelong Maritime Careers

The Caravel Group’s acqusition strengthens IMI’s collaboration with Fleet Management, Caravel’s subsidiary company and one of the world’s leading ship management companies, significantly expanding placement opportunities for cadets.

This investment ensures that IMI cadets benefit from cutting-edge training, global exposure, and a robust support system as they transition into the maritime workforce. It also reinforces IMI’s long-term vision of shaping competent and confident maritime professionals ready to lead the industry into the future.
