Fleet Management was honoured to receive the ‘Tanker Operator of the Year’ Award at the 10th SAFETY4SEA Awards in Athens, Greece.
Fleet Management Limited has been honoured with the ‘Tanker Operator of the Year’ Award by SAFETY4SEA. This award recognises an operator of oil, chemical, or gas tankers that has shown outstanding performance in safety, training, crew welfare, and sustainable operations.
Fleet received this recognition for its strong commitment to training and innovation, and for its ongoing investment in people, both onboard and onshore.
Over the past year, the company has enriched its training framework through a wide range of programmes delivered by the in-house Fleet Management Training Institute (FMTI). These include SafeR+ and T-Cup, which focus on behaviour-based safety and resilience. Fleet has also expanded its digital learning tools, introducing cloud-based simulators, virtual reality training, and a structured leadership development pathway. In 2024 alone, more than 636,000 training hours were delivered to seafarers.
Reflecting a consistent commitment to safety standards, Fleet Management achieved a 35 percent reduction in injuries compared to the previous year. It also received praise for its Port State Control performance and renewed Green Award certifications for a cohort of its fleet. Fleet’s safety management system was further strengthened through independent audits, including those carried out by oil majors. These audits led to updates in procedures, manuals, and equipment retirement standards. In addition, DNV certified that Fleet’s management systems meet the requirements of ISO 14001:2015 (Environmental Management), ISO 45001:2018 (Occupational Health and Safety), and ISO 50001:2018 (Energy Management), confirming the company’s alignment with international best practices.
Fleet Management’s wellbeing and welfare team, Fleet Care, continues to set high standards in the industry. Initiatives such as Psychological First Aid (PFA), Wellness at Sea (WAS) training, and the Fleet Family Support Group (FFSG) have helped build a resilient and connected workforce. Welfare managers regularly make support calls to families and host Tea Talks at seafarer recruitment offices around the world, helping to strengthen the bond between seafarers, their families, and the company.
Captain Raja Subramaniam, Chief Executive Officer of Fleet Management Limited, said:
“This award is a tribute to the professionalism and dedication of our teams at sea and on shore. Their commitment to safety and performance is what drives our success. We are honoured to receive this recognition and remain focused on building a safer, more sustainable future for our Fleet team and our clients.”
The award ceremony took place in Athens, Greece. This year, Fleet Management, celebrated the opening of its first office in Greece, further expanding its global presence.
