Dr. Kishore Rajvanshy

Managing Director

Dr Kishore Rajvanshy is co-founder and Managing Director of Fleet Management Limited, a Caravel Group company.

Kishore began his career at the Shipping Corporation of India (SCI), a public sector undertaking under the management of the Ministry of Shipping of the Government of India. He spent his first year of training in Mumbai before embarking on his first voyage at sea in 1971. For the next seven years, he would sail around the world and rise the ranks to Chief Engineer, a position he held for his last three years at sea. Then in 1978, Kishore accepted a position with SCI that brought him onshore as a Superintendent.

In 1979 he embarked on what would become a long and successful career with Univan Ship Management, a prominent Hong Kong-based ship management company. His notable 15-years with Univan saw him step into senior leadership roles including Director and then eventually as General Manager of the firm.

In November 1994 Kishore joined Noble Group, a Hong Kong-based commodities trading company, to establish Fleet Management Limited, which was subsequently acquired by The Caravel Group. Since its founding, Kishore has led Fleet Management through a tremendous growth journey. The company counts 600+ vessels under its technical management, supported by 20,000 seafarers in addition to around 1,000 onshore maritime professionals who are based in 27 offices across 13 countries.

Kishore was appointed Chairperson of BIMCO’s newly formed Ship Manager Advisory Panel in October 2021. He is also Vice-Chairman of the Board of the West of England P&I Club where he has been a Director since 2007. He is the Chairman of the Lloyd’s Register Asian Shipowners Committee and sits on the Technical and Regional Committees of all major classification societies.

Kishore received a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS) a prominent university in Pilani, India. In 2020 BITS bestowed him with the Distinguished Alumnus Award in recognition of his outstanding contribution to society as a corporate leader.
